Akorn Technology, a global leading provider of natural plant-based coatings for fresh produce, is expanding its team in Latin America, where exporters of mangos, avocados, pineapple, and other tropical fruit are rapidly embracing its solutions.
Miguel Wong has joined Akorn with primary responsibility for the Peruvian market. Before joining Akorn, Miguel held both strategic and commercial roles at AgroFresh and Pace International.
Miguel will ensure that Akorn developed solutions are fully validated in the region based on local customers’ requirements before they are deployed at their production facilities. “We are very excited about Miguel joining Akorn to drive our strong growth throughout Peru. His business relationships with growers and packers are already proving to be indispensable,” said Anthony Zografos, PhD, Akorn’s founder and CEO.
Akorn’s Latin America Team, led by Danilo Sanchez, has already established a strong presence in the region. Akorn-treated fruit from across South America is being exported to the European Union, Asia, and the United States. In addition, the company has established collaborations with local universities and research institutions.
