Inside the Global Effort to Keep Perfectly Good Food Out of the Dump

The The New York Times featured an article about global food waste solutions, saying in part “in the United States, one start-up…has developed an invisible, plant-based coating to make fruits last longer.” Thank you NYTimes — that describes Akorn Technology, Inc. perfectly!

In fact, Akorn’s plant-derived coating is invisible and highly effective in extending shelf life and quality of fresh produce, so the fruit we enjoy at home is so delicious that it won’t go to waste.

Importantly, our coating reduces food loss and waste from farm to table (to mouth!). So we can tackle everything from food loss at the farm, in the packing house, in transit to distribution centers (by land, air or sea), and food waste from distribution to retail or foodservice and finally to consumers.
